Die Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST) ist eine internationale Orga-nisation zur Entwicklung, Verbreitung und zum Austausch von Wissen im Bereich der Holzforschung und der Technologie des Holzes. Die Gesellschaft setzt unter anderem Akkredierungs- und Qualit\u00e4tsstandards f\u00fcr die akademische Ausbildung im Bereich des Holzes und gibt die international anerkannte Fachzeitschrift \u201eWood and Fibre Science\u201c heraus. Die urspr\u00fcnglich sehr stark auf die USA und Canada fokussierte Gesellschaft \u00f6ffnet sich zunehmend auch international.<\/p>\n

Im Vorfeld der heurigen SWST Jahreskonferenz in Zvolen (SK) fand die Sitzung des Executive Board der Gesellschaft auf Basis einer gemeinsamen Einladung der BOKU, TU Wien und Wood K plus in Wien statt. Am ersten Sitzungstag begr\u00fc\u00dfte Dekan Prof. Josef Eberhardsteiner die G\u00e4ste im Kuppelsaal der TU Wien mit der beeindruckenden Holzkonstruktion der Kuppelstruktur. Am zweiten Sitzungstag war das Board zu Gast im Fachverband der Holzindustrie \u00d6sterreichs. Dabei stell-te Prof. A. Teischinger die wesentlichen Eckpfeiler der Holzwirtschaft \u00d6sterreichs und der Struktur der Holzforschung und Ausbildung im Bereich Holz vor.<\/p>\n

Bei einem gemeinsamen Abendessen erfolgte dann ein reger Gedankenaustausch zu Spezifika und Gemeinsamkeiten im Bereich der Holzforschung in Amerika und Europa. Speziell hinsichtlich verschiedener Forschungsf\u00f6rderungsprogramme auf nationaler (COMET, FFG etc.) und europ\u00e4ischer Ebene (EU EraNet Wood Wisdom etc.) nehmen die G\u00e4ste auch neue Gedanken und Eindr\u00fccke mit nach Hause. Auch wenn die Zeit zu kurz war, konnten einige Meilensteine der US-Holzforschung diskutiert werden, wie das eben erst zu Ende gegangene \u201eWood Utilization Program\u201c an der Oregon State University.<\/p>\n

The society of Wood Science and technology (SWST) is an international organisation to the development, dissemination and exchange of knowledge in the field of wood research and technology of the wood. The company relies, inter alia, Akkredierungs \u2013 and the Society sets accreditation and quality standards for academic training in the field of wood science and publishes the international journal \u201cWood and Fibre Science\u201d. The company focused initially very heavily on the United States and Canada opens increasingly internationally.<\/p>\n

In advance of this year\u2019s SWST annual Conference in Zvolen (SK), the meeting of the Executive Board of the society on the basis of a joint invitation of the BOKU took, TU Vienna and wood K plus in Vienna instead. Greeted on the first day of the session Dean Prof. Eberhard Baguri guests in the domed Hall of Vienna University of technology with the impressive timber construction of the dome structure. On the second day of the session, the Board to guest was in the Association of the wood industry of in Austria. This put-te Prof. A. Teischinger before the essential cornerstones of the timber industry of in Austria and the structure of wood research and training in the field of wood.<\/p>\n

At a common dinner was a lively exchange of thoughts to specifics and similarities in the field of wood research in America and Europe. Specifically with regard to various research programmes on national (COMET, FFG etc.) and European level (EU EraNet wood Wisdom etc.) the guests take home new ideas and impressions. Even though the time was too short, some milestones of U.S. wood research could be discussed, such as the \u201cwood utilization program received just to end\u201d at Oregon State University.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
