The Michigan Technological University (MTU) School of Forest Resources and Environmental

Science (SFRES) is seeking outstanding and motivated applicants for a 3-year Graduate
Research Assistantship at PhD level to study lignocellulosic biomaterials, focusing on lignin
utilization and biomass-based carbon. The assistantship includes full stipend and tuition.

Applicants must have strong background in organic chemistry and polymer science. A degree in
chemistry, applied chemistry, chemical engineering, and research experience in renewable
biopolymers is preferred. Preference will also be given to applicants with a Master’s degree. The
applicants must be willing to collaborate with others and able to work as a team member.
