One PhD candidate graduate position is available for a multidisciplinary project at the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts at Mississippi State University.
The successful candidate will be involved in a highly multidisciplinary research and will receive training in biomass chemistry, chemometric modeling, and development of bio-based resins. The proposed project is in close collaboration with industry and focuses on development of lignin-based bioproducts for application in coatings and adhesives. The results of this study are expected to find application for lignin (by-products of pulp and paper, and bioethanol industry) while developing sustainable raw materials for polymer industry.
The candidate should have:
- Undergraduate degree in chemistry or chemical engineering and master’s degree relevant to the topic of the study
- Previously attained and maintained exceptional academic standing (min GPA 3.0 on 4.0 scale basis)
- Have a TOEFL score of 79 iBT or IELTS score of 6.5 or better (students with non-English credentials only)
- Be self-motivated and adaptive to a team of multi-disciplinary researchers
The successful candidate will be funded in the amount of US $20,000 per year for the period of 3 years plus tuition, fees and insurance.
