Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the Instructor 1 level (tenure-track
towards Professor of Teaching) in the Department of Wood Science, Faculty of Forestry at the
University of British Columbia. The Faculty of Forestry teaches programs and conducts research
in Wood Products Processing, Natural Resources Conservation, Forest Resources Management,
and Forest Sciences. Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduate
students is essential and a post-graduate degree (masters or doctorate) in a related discipline is
preferred. Applicants should show evidence of demonstrated educational leadership or show
promise of educational leadership. Industrial experience with wood processing operations would
also be an asset. The successful candidate may be asked to teach, on occasion, at our partner
universities in China. The successful candidate is also expected to take an active role in the
industry extension (including instruction) activities of the Centre for Advanced Wood
Processing. Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following fields: Wood
Machining (theoretical and practical), Computer-Aided Drawing and Computer-Aided
Machinery, Plant Layout and Design (including environmental considerations) and Wood
Product Manufacturing Process Control.
