The Society of Wood Science and Technology will hold its 2010 International  Convention in Geneva, Switzerland at the Palais des Nations together with our co-hosts the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe - Timber Committee (UNECE-TC).

Role of Wood Science in the
Green Building Movement

Session 1 Markets for use of solid and engineered wood products in green construction
Session 2 Wood and wood-based materials and their use in sustainable construction
Session 3 Poster Session/Student Poster Competition/Cash Bar
Session 4 Structural design for sustainable construction and disaster mitigation
Session 5 The role of nanotechnology in green materials and sustainable construction
Session 6 Building codes and standards - Influence on material use and construction practices
Session 7 Current challenges  in wood science education

Each session has a North American and a European co-chair.  

Final Call for Papers (PDF)

Call for papers for oral and poster presentations has been announced.
Abstracts are due March 1, 2010.

The UNECE Timber Committee meeting will be held October 11-15 with both concurrent and parallel sessions.

Languages: The official languages of the convention are English, French, and Russian.  There will be simultaneous translations.

Final Day Industry Tour: The last day of the convention is a day-long tour including visits to the Center for European Nuclear Research (CERN), École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and Sauvabelin Tower.

Miscellaneous Items: Learn more about cell phone use, name badges, free bike loans, etc.
