Transportation to Universidad del Bío-Bío:
Each day there will be 2 shuttles transporting people from the Hotel El Araucano to Universidad del Bío-Bío and back. They will be available from the front of the hotel from 7:00 to 8:30 am (November 10 and November 11) and returning from the Universidad from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm (November 10) and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm (November 11). Go out the front door of the Hotel El Araucano, turn left, and the shuttle bus will be near the corner of Caupolican and Barros Arana.

If you are not staying at the Hotel El Araucano, you will need to get there to catch the shuttles. Otherwise taxi service is available for under $10.

Name Badge:  Each conference participant must wear his/her badge at all times while inside the conference venue, as it will be used for identification.

Language:  The official languages of the conference are English and Spanish.  There will be simultaneous translations from Spanish-English and English-Spanish.  All written material must be in English for incorporation into proceedings.  All written material and PowerPoint slides must be in English.

Bulletin Board:  Available near Registration Desk

Breaks and Lunches:  Coffee/tea/snacks are served daily in the morning and are included in the registration fee.  Lunches will be at the Universidad del Bio Bio Cantina and are included in the registration fee.

No Smoking:  The conference venue is a smoke-free area. 

Cell Phones: The cell phone service in Chile is GSM system on a frequency of 1900 MHz. Participants are advised to turn their cell phones off or to silent during all sessions.

 

January 31, 2008:  Abstracts due for oral presentations.  Any abstract received after this date will be accepted as a poster presentation.

September 1, 2008:  Deadline for early bird registration.  Please complete your registration (including payment) by that date.  After September 1, 2008 the fee will increase by $50.

September 1, 2008:  Deadline for guaranteed Hotel El Araucano rates in room block.  Contact Reservation Agent:  Soledad Rodriquez, Phone:  (56-41) 2740 630; Fax:  (56-41) 2740 623, Email:  ventas@hotelaraucano.cl   After this date, the room block will be released.  Rooms may be available but the rate cannot be guaranteed. September 10, 2008:  All Oral and Poster presentations will require a 4-8 page technical paper (due Sept 10, 2008 to SWST Executive Office) to be published by SWST in a Proceedings (CD) given to all Annual Meeting attendees, and then electronically published via the internet on the SWST webpage.  Guidelines for preparation and formatting of proceedings papers.

September 10, 2008:  Biographical information and .jpg format photo for oral and poster presenters due to Executive Office of SWST.

September 10, 2008:  Student Poster Competition Abstracts Due.  See Guidelines and Application form.  No abstracts will be accepted after September 10. 

September 10, 2008:  PowerPoint presentations (in English) for oral presenters must be sent to Victoria Herian, SWST Executive Director, vicki@swst.org, or mail to One Gifford Pinchot Drive, Madison, WI, USA 53726, so she can transmit to the translation company.   See guidelines.
